Kids Night Out
Mark your calendars for next Friday, December 8th. Students can donate to Relay for Life and have a fun night at school from 3:30-7:30. This is always a fun event and the donations go towards Team Dolvin Relay for Life team.
Blue Math- Fractions- We will be learning about more fraction basics (equivalent, reducing, etc.) as well as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. So far, we have covered simplifying fraction, finding equivalent fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We have also covered adding and subtracting mixed numbers. This week we will cover multiplying fractions. Our test day for unit 4 will be December 20th.
Yellow Math- We have just started 6th grade unit 1. This is a very difficult unit. Students will be asked to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They will also learn how to find Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple. Lastly, they will be able to use the distributive property. We will not test on this unit until after the winter holiday.
Green Math- We will be learning about solving 1 and 2 step equations with variables as well as inequalities. We will also be using our previous knowledge about ratios to solve problems using ratio reasoning. So far, we have covered real world inequalities as well as graphing inequalities and solving inequalities. We also worked on solving inequalities and started working with integers. This week, we will cover ratio reasoning and using what we know about unit rate to solve problems. We will test over this unit on December 20th.
Social Studies- Our test over World War I will be tomorrow. Students should know the causes of the war, events during the war, and effects of the war.
Science- We will start our electricity unit this week. In this unit, we will learn about the different charges required for an electric current, the different types of circuits, conductors and insulators, and electromagnets. We will test over this unit on December 19th.
Check back every week for a new post with information about the coming week.
