1. Relay for Life events As I am sure you know by now, I am very involved in Relay for Life for Team Dolvin. Nearly every family has been affected by cancer and this is a great opportunity to have fun and raise money for American Cancer Society. It is also a competition which Dolvin usually wins. however, at this time, we are in 3rd place and we are about $10,000 from our goal. We need all the help we can get. Here are some upcoming events: - Luminaria Bag sales- $10 to decorate and dedicate a bag in memory of those who have fought cancer. Going on now until May 10th. - Kids Night Out- This is always a fun event! It will be May 5th from 4-8 and costs $25. - Luau Spirit Day- May 11th. Students can donate $1 to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt for "re-Lei" for Life. - Relay for Life North Fulton- The actual relay for life event will be May 13th at Webb Bridge Middle School from 4-11PM. I hope to see some of you out there!! 2. 5th grade fun week The last week of 5th grade is a big milestone for 5th graders. They are finally graduating from elementary school and moving up in the world to middle school. We have fun events every day of that week. Some events require volunteers, while others are just for the students. The events are listed below. The flyer with a donation request (we have to be able to fund each event) will be coming home soon. Volunteer sign ups will come out soon as well. More information on that to come. Parents may NOT attend events unltess they are signed up to volunteer. Upcoming tests in class Blue Math- We have worked on coordinate planes and functions. Our unit 7 test will be this Friday, April 28. Yellow Math- We have learned about algebraic expressions. We have learned important vocabulary and how to write expressions from a situation. We will test over Unit 3 this Friday, April 28. SS- We have learned about the Cold War and Civil Rights. We just started learning about 1970's-present day. We will have our quiz over this until this week. Our test will be next Wednesday, May 3rd.

Good afternoon,
I hope everyone had a very restful and fun spring break! I know I did :). I want to thank all of your for your generous gifts and recognition during staff appreciation week. I truly enjoy teaching each and every one of my students. They are all so unique and bring such great talents to the whole class. I know they are ready for middle school but I don't want to see them go. Thanks again for allowing me to make an impact on their education and life. Milestones- As I am sure you know, Milestones start this week. Here are a few reminders during this testing window.
Fine arts Night Fine arts Night is this Thursday night from 5:30-7:30 with a chorus performance at 6. I hope to see you all there! The chorus is doing a Disney Dazzle theme and I could not be more excited!! Classes Blue Math- We are continuing our work on coordinate planes. We will test over this unit on April 28th. Students already received their study guide and should be reviewing nightly. Yellow Math- We are starting our 6th grade Unit 3 work this week. This unit focuses on pre-algebra skills. Students will be assessed on important algebra vocabulary and their ability to solve for variables in equations. They will test over this unit on April 28th. Social Studies- We are continuing our work on Civil Rights/Cold War unit. We will also learn about important events from 1975- present day. These important events include the collapse of communism, the Israeli conflict, war in the Middle East, and 9/11. We will also be learning about the different presidents during the 50's-present day. With this large unit, it is important for students to study nightly. Our test over this unit will be May 3rd. |
