My Teaching Philosophy
"If you can dream it, you can do it." - Walt Disney
· Everyone has the ability and opportunity to learn.
o With the educational system we have available today, everyone has the ability to get to school to learn. Although everyone learns in a different way, they are still capable of learning. Teachers must differentiate their instruction to cater to their students needs in a way that fosters learning and development.
· School is not only a place for academics, but also a place to shape the future of our society.
o Students are most often tested on their academic ability as a way to evaluate how the school and teachers are doing their job. However, I believe it is equally important to teach them how to be good, functioning members of society. We are able to teach them how to be caring people who give back to their community. They can be taught this through watching their teachers set an example as well as community outreach programs.
· Students learn best in healthy, interactive environments by effectively communicating daily in and outside of the classroom.
o Environment affects a child’s ability to learn. They will learn best in an environment they feel comfortable in and one that fosters healthy habits. A natural room with soft lighting has been proven to be the best environment for our children to learn in. While these physical characteristics play a large part of the classroom environment, dialogue and communication also play a role. A classroom with dialogue and discussion allows students to share their insights and experience with the classmates and fosters an environment of open communication. Students will feel comfortable opening up in an environment like this allowing them to get things off their chest and focus their attention on learning.
