Fall conference sign ups: You will find the link below to sign up for fall conferences. Please not this is only for students in my HOMEROOM. All students in my PM class will sign up with their homeroom teachers. I will provide their homeroom teacher with conference notes. Your child should have their wish list with the cost of the books they want. We will go Wednesday morning to purchase books. We are starting new units this week. Please check below for some information on what your child will be learning. Remember that they should be reviewing their notes every night. I suggest reading through their notes right before bed. All of their notes are in their interactive notebooks. Blue Math- Unit 2- Decimals: Students will learn about decimal place values and how to add and subtract decimals. They will also learn how to order decimals, compare decimals, and round decimals. There are notes on my website as well. They can always google up some games on these topics at home as well to practice and have fun! We will test this unit on October 6th. Yellow Math- Unit 5 - Geometry: Students will learn about the attributes of different shapes and be able to arrange them in a hierarchy. They will also review how to find the area of some of these shapes. Creating riddles is always a fun way to study the attributes of shapes. We will test this unit on October 6th. Social Studies- Unit 2- Reconstruction: Students will learn about how the Civil War affected America. Students will study black codes, reconstructing the south, and changes to the constitution. We will also relate these topics to the importance of knowing your rights and responsibilities as a citizen. They will also learn the steps that we go through to create a new amendment to the constitution. We will test this unit on September 30th.

Check out some important information about the upcoming week below. 1. Tomorrow is picture day! Please make sure students bring their money/forms if you are planning on ordering pictures. Our picture time is 10:24. 2. A class contest went out today to get the most people signed up on My School Anywhere. Join Today! https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/join.a5w enter code: dolvin The class from each grade level that has the highest % of families join will receive a special treat for the class and a special gift for the teacher. Contest ends SEPT 30th so join now! 3. Make sure you are keeping up to date on student grades. They are uploaded to HAC in a timely manner. They will also come home every other thursday. Class Updates: Blue Math and Yellow Math will both have tests on Thursday. Blue Math's test will cover: Multiplication, Division, Order of Operations, Multiply and Divide powers of 10, and Translating Expressions. Reviews came home today which we will go over on Wednesday in class. Yellow Math's rest will cover: Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing fractions as well as creating a line plot and redistributing (fair share) the information in the line plot. We will have our Science test on Wednesday. This will cover animal and plant classification. Notes are uploaded online and students will be reviewing today and tomorrow in class. I hope everyone had a nice long weekend! Check below for some important weekly updates and important dates! September 13th- PICTURE DAY! 1. Forms- Please check your child's binder for any missed permission forms etc. More will be going home if they still have not returned the needed documents. 2. Check my blast from last week fo register for MySchoolAnywhere for PTA and to donate to the annual fund drive for PTA. 4. Class updates: Blue Math- We will continue working with expressions and be reviewing powers of 10, multiplication, division, and order of operations. Our test has been pushed back to NEXT WEDNESDAY, September 14th. Students should be reviewing their notes nightly. Yellow Math- We will continue working with fractions. Students should be practicing at home nightly and reviewing their notes. They all need to work on simplifying fractions. Our test will also be NEXT WEDNESDAY, September 14th. Science- We have started learning about how we classify living things. We will be learning about classifying animals into the 5 different kingdoms and we will discuss the difference between a vascular plant and a non vascular plant. Students should be reviewing these notes nightly as well. Our science test will be NEXT TUESDAY, September 13th. |
