Good Evening!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Please check below for some weekly updates: 7 Mindset Houses- We have organized students into houses by randomly selecting bracelets. Monday will be their first house meeting. We will have house meetings once a month for the rest of the year. Dolphins Diving Deeper- (3D time)- We will start 3D time on Tuesday. Every Tuesday-Friday from 7:45-8:15, we will have 3D time. This is a time for remediation and extension. Students have been sorted into groups based on their STAR test results and first 9 weeks grades. We will be focusing on Math extension and remediation. Yellow Math: We have been working with coordinate planes and functions. We will have our test over unit 7 this Friday, 10/30. Blue Math: We have worked on multiplying decimals for the past week. We will continue this and start learning about dividing decimals this week. This unit also focuses on multiplying and dividing by powers of 10. This is a concept we have been working with all year but it is difficult for students to grasp. Please be reviewing this with students. This unit test will be next Thursday, 11/5. Science: We have learned all about cells and microorganisms. Students were asked to create a "Cell City" for their unit project. This could be done in any format. Guidelines and rubrics were handed out and all students should have this information. Cell city is due on Tuesday, 10/27. This is the same day as their cell test. Social Studies: We doubled up on Science and Social Studies during ITBS week. We are currently learning about the turn of the century including cattle drives and economic patterns of the beginning of the 1900's. We will continue this unit throughout the week. Our unit test for this will be November 3rd.

Check below for this weeks updates :) Next week is ITBS testing. Please do not have students bring devices that week. If they NEED to bring a device for after school activities, please let me know. They will need to power down devices and turn them in during testing. Parent Resources: Below is a link to upraised math. This is a math resource which tells you what your students is currently working on in math. It also has some resources that can help you to understand how they are learning the skill which we all know is different then how you learned it :). https://app.upraised.org/schools/3VhXxZiT75 Yellow Math: We will be starting Unit 7 on Wednesday. We will be learning about the coordinate plane and functions. They will be able to plot points, locate points, determine distance between points, and create points based on real world functions. Links to resources are located on the Yellow Math tab of the Class web page. Blue Math: We will be starting Unit 3 on Wednesday. We will learn how to multiply and divide decimals. This will be similar to our previous unit of multiplying and dividing whole numbers. Students will be able to use a grid method, area model, partial products, and algorithm to complete real world problems. Links to resources are located on the Blue Math tab of the Class web page. Science: We will be continuing out unit on Cells and Microorganisms. Students already have learned about the different organelles and will complete their "Cell City" project by October 27th. They will be allowed to bring in their project during ITBS Week (October 19th-23rd) so we can work on them in class. Test dates: To be determined :) Good afternoon!
