I hope everyone is looking forward to a great winter holiday with their families and friends. Our last day of the semester is this Thursday. Students will be finishing up their units which means there will be a lot of assessments this week. Please make sure your child is studying nightly!
Curriculum Updates: Blue Math- Fractions- We will be learning about more fraction basics (equivalent, reducing, etc.) as well as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. So far, we have covered simplifying fraction, finding equivalent fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We have also covered adding and subtracting mixed numbers and multiplying a whole number by a fraction. Last week we covered multiplying and dividing fractions as well as plotting data on line plots. Our test day for unit 4 will be December 20th. Students had a review guide they could have completed over the weekend to earn extra recess today. Only 4 out of my 19 blue math students completed the review guide. Please make sure your child is studying for this test. This is the most difficult math unit of the year. Yellow Math- We have been working on 6th grade unit 1. This is a very difficult unit. Students will be asked to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. They will also learn how to find Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple. Lastly, they will be able to use the distributive property. We will not test on this unit until after the winter holiday. We will have a quiz over adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, decimals, and fractions this week. Green Math- We have learned about solving 1 and 2 step equations with variables as well as inequalities. We have also been using our previous knowledge about ratios to solve problems using ratio reasoning. We have covered real world inequalities as well as graphing inequalities and solving inequalities. We also worked on solving inequalities and started working with integers. We covered ratio reasoning and using what we know about unit rate to solve problems. Lastly we have worked on using a graph to find an equation. We will test over this unit on December 20th. Science- We will continue our electricity unit this week. In this unit, we will learn about the different charges required for an electric current, the different types of circuits, conductors and insulators, and electromagnets. We will test over this unit on December 19th. Students have gotten back their quizzes to use to study.

Good Afternoon! Please check below for some weekly updates.
We have two more school weeks before winter break. These are very important days since we will assess our current units that we are working on. If your child is going to be absent, if possible, please let me know before hand so we can get the notes or work done by the end of the semester. Want to help the Georgia Department of Education see what a fantastic school we have at Dolvin? We need your help! Dolvin has scored 5 out of 5 stars on our climate the last two years.
