Picture Day: Picture Day will be Wednesday, August 29th! Picture envelopes went home last week. Curriculum Updates: Blue Math- We are working on whole numbers and order of operations. So far, we have covered multiplying whole numbers, reviewed place value and reviewed some division strategies (partial quotients and long division). We will review our division strategies this week as well as learn the Order of Operations and how to translate and compare expressions. Please make sure your child is studying nightly. Our first unit test will be September 7th. (The test was moved back 2 days due to diagnostic testing) Remember, quizzes are unannounced. Yellow Math- We are working on number fluency. In this unit we will review how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. We have already reviewed all operations with decimal and whole numbers. This week, we will be working with fractions again. We will focus on dividing fractions. This is a very rich unit that should be a review. If your child is struggling with computation, they need to practice at home and come see me in the mornings (during commons time) for extra help. We will also learn how to find the greatest common factor, least common multiply, and use the distributive property. Our test over this unit will be September 7th. (The test was moved back 2 days due to diagnostic testing) Remember, quizzes are unannounced. Science Test over classification of plants and animals will be Wednesday, August 29th. Social Studies- We have just started our first Social Studies unit over the Industrial Revolution and the Turn of the Century.
