Important Dates:
Curriculum Updates Report Cards: Quarter 1 report cards will be coming home soon! Blue Math- We have been working on 5th grade unit 3. In this unit, we cover multiplying and dividing decimals. We learn how to show this in a model as well as use the standard algorithm. This unit can be difficult for students so please make sure students are completing their homework and practicing nightly! Our test over this unit is tentative for next Friday, October 19th. Yellow Math- We have just started working on 6th grade unit 3. This unit covers algebraic expressions. Students will need to know important vocabulary that goes with algebraic expressions (constant, term, coefficient, etc.) We will also review and master the order of operations (PEMDAS). Students will also use math properties to simplify algebraic expressions (associative, commutative, identity, inverse). Our test over this unit is tentative for October 26th. (This will most likely be moved back due to IOWA Testing) Social Studies- We are continuing our work with learning about the Turn of the Century. We have learned about westward expansion, native American relations, famous inventors, immigration to the United States, and industrial development.
