We will cover fraction basics and adding and subtracting fractions in December. After winter break, we will learn about multiplying and dividing fractions and will not test on those skills until February. This week in unit 4A, we will work on making equivalent fractions. This SHOULD be a review for students. Yellow Math: We are starting a new unit which will still cover algebraic expressions. In this unit, students will review how to translate expressions, solve for variables, and learn how to write and solve inequalities. We will test over this unit (6th grade unit 4) in December. Social Studies: Our Social Studies test will be on Wednesday, November 7th. Please make sure your child has studied at home on their day off on Tuesday. They were provided with a study tool checklist for some topics that are important for their test. Science: Our new science unit will cover Chemical and Physical changes. Students will learn more about matter and how matter changes. Our tentative date for this test is Friday, November 16th. Science teachers will meet tomorrow to discuss if we want to change this date. We will keep you updated.
