Happy Tuesday!
We are already off to a great week. Check out some important announcements below. Student Council applications went out on Monday. Students who want to run for executive board of student council need to have these turned in by Friday. They need to have their speech already written for if they make it as a finalist. Recovery: We have had a lot of inquiries regarding recovery or retakes of assignments.Students will have the opportunity to recover FAILING GRADES for summative assessments (test grades) to achieve the mastery level of 70%. This recovery option does not include classwork grades, quizzes or cold reads. Writing assessments also will not be recovered, as constant remediation is given throughout the year. Yellow Math: We are working on measurement conversions and finding volume. We will also review how to read line plots. Our test for this unit is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday. Blue Math: We have been working with decimals. We have learned about decimal place value, and how to add and subtract decimals using models as well as using the algorithm. Students are getting a great grasp on the concept and doing well! Our test for this unit is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday. Social Studies: We have been learning about reconstruction after the Civil War. This includes how the north and south were doing after the civil war, how former slaves were treated (13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, Black Codes, Jim Crow laws), how we amend the constitution, and the rights and responsibilities of American citizens. Notes are located in interactive notebooks and some are on my website. Here's to a great week ahead!!
