TESTING IS OVER! YAYY!!
Our students worked very hard on all days of testing. I was very proud of them!
We have 5 more weeks of school and we will be working hard until the last week of school. Check below for updates of our classes:
We have continued our work on coordinate planes and functions. Students will have a quiz this week and we will test over this last unit next Tuesday.
We have been working with statistics and the shape of graphs. We will have our quiz this week. We will also be learning how to create these graphs given statistical information. Our test for this unit will be next Tuesday. We have one more unit to complete 6th grade math :)
We have been learning about constructive and destructive forces. Students will continue reviewing this information (they have their notes in their notebooks) and will also be learning about plate tectonics. We will have our science quiz this week with our test this Friday.
We are participating in ABC Count down for the last few days of school. Each Friday, students will update their agenda with the days of the count down. This week is C-G. :)
I hope everyone had a great spring break :). I know I did!
As everyone knows, Milestone testing starts this week. Below you will find a few reminders and a schedule for testing.
- Please remind your child that they should NOT bring their devices on testing days. If they need to bring something for after school purposes, they will need to bring it to me first thing in the morning. I will lock it in the closet during testing and they will get it back as soon as testing ends.
- Make sure everyone eats breakfast! I know several students don't like to eat breakfast that early but there is not food or drink in the testing room as we are using technology. A good breakfast is good brain food!
Tuesday 4/12- ELA sections 1 & 2
Thursday 4/14- ELA section 3
Monday 4/18- Math sections 1 & 2
Thursday 4/21- Science sections 1 & 2
Monday 4/25 - SS sections 1 & 2
TOMORROW, Monday 4/11, we will be taking a practice test. The data will not be analyzed. It is a time for students to get used to some key features available to them on the online version of the test. We will be in the lab for this test from 9-9:55.
During Milestone testing, we will continue to learn on days we are not testing. The units we are working on will not be tested until AFTER Milestone testing is done on the 25th. Below you will find some of the skills we will be working on. In addition to these units, we will still continue our review of previous units.
We will continue to work on coordinate planes and functions. We will also be spending time reviewing fractions and multiplying and dividing by powers of 10. These are two big 5th grade skills which will be heavily weighted on the milestones.
We will be working on unit 6 which covers graphing and statistics. We will learn about Mean, Median, and Mode as well as different types of graphs. These graphs include, line plots, dot plots, box and whisker plots, histograms, and stem and leaf plots. Students will need to be able to read these types of graphs as well as create one.
We will be learning about constructive and destructive forces. Some examples of destructive forces are erosion and weathering. We will also learn about land forms and how humans and nature change these landforms.
Check back every week for a new post with information about the coming week.
