Solar Eclipse – August 21, 2017 Fulton County schools will delay dismissal by 45 minutes on Monday, August 21, 2017, due to the solar eclipse. On that day, we will begin dismissal at 3:05 pm. Students and staff will remain indoors during the scheduled eclipse and participate in eclipse-related learning activities. We will also offer students the opportunity to watch the live stream of the eclipse on [www.nasa.gov/eclipselive.]www.nasa.gov/eclipselive. If you would like your child to view the eclipse, please plan to check your child out prior to 12:30 pm. Absences and early check-outs on August 21, 2017, will be excused. Please look for more information regarding specific learning opportunities from your child’s teacher. We are asking all parents to complete this quick survey so that our check out process will run smoothly on that day. Please complete one survey for each child if you have multiple students at Dolvin. http://tinyurl.com/DESeclipse A few start of term reminders: Each week I will send out a "Weekly Blast" via email which will be found on my website incase something goes wrong with my email. You can always find updates and past updates on the "weekly blast" tab. Please make sure you read and review this each week as it contains important information. I try my best to keep it short and sweet :) - Please check your child's agenda NIGHTLY. Teachers will be signing agendas for the first semester to teach responsibility. This is where you will find notes from the teacher, test dates, student homework, etc. I ask that you sign at least once a week so I can make sure it is being shown to parents. - Homework-I assign two nights of homework at one time in order for students to plan out when they will have time to complete their homework. I check homework on Wednesday and Friday. -Math groups- Our class will have 3 different math groups: Blue, Yellow, and Green. They will get a note in their agenda folder as to their math group so you know what information to look at in my weekly blast. - Quizzes- In 5th grade, quizzes are unannounced. Students are expected to study nightly so they are always prepared. Curriculum Updates: Blue Math: We are working on 5th grade Unit 1.
