Absences
In order to make our students and school successful, it is essential that students be present as often as possible. In the event of an absence, please be sure to provide a note upon return. If you know in advance that your child will be absent or that he/she will be dismissed early, please let me know. For extended absences, students may get work during or after their absence. Please keep in mind it is possible to get missing work but it is not possible to relive the classroom experiences that occured while students are out.
School Hours
The school day begins at 7:10 a.m. At that time, students can complete morning duties and be engaged in social activities in the Commons. It is essential that your child arrive at school on time, as instruction will begin promptly at 7:40. Dismissal begins at 2:20 p.m.
Behavior
To ensure a positive and productive learning environment for all students, an expectation of minimal classroom distractions will be strictly enforced. Students are expected to follow the school wide PBIS behavior system. You can look at the expectations below. If a student is disrupting the learning behavior, they will get 3 warnings documented in their agenda, receive a logical consequence, and if they behavior continues, it will result in a classroom referral. If the behavior still is not fixed, they will receive an office referral.
Grading
The grading scale is as follows:
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 F 69 and below |
What does my grade mean??
A- I understand! Neat and complete! Excellent effort! B- I mostly understand. Mostly neat and complete. Good effort. C- I understand some. Not all complete or neat. May not be my best effort. F- I understand. I need to ask for help. May not be neat or complete. |
Binders and Agendas
Students will be required to maintain a binder and agenda. Students must have their binders and agendas in class every day. Students will be responsible for recording homework, projects, and test dates in their agendas. Please be sure to review your child’s agenda nightly, and encourage your child to keep a neat binder.
Data Folders will also be used to track student goals and self assess their progress.

Homework
Homework will be assigned weekly but is optional! (New as of the 2019-2020 school year). I expect students to be practicing their math skills Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights by either completing minutes on iReady or working on practice pages specific to the skill we are currently learning in class. Wednesday's are NO HOMEWORK WEDNESDAYS!
Sign and Return Papers
Sign and return papers will be sent home every 3 weeks, on Thursdays. Please review these papers, read and sign the cover letter, and return the entire packet at your earliest convenience.
Birthdays
Due to the risk of food allergies, we will be unable to celebrate birthdays with food or snacks. You can buy birthday treats from the cafeteria for your child's class. Students will receive a birthday pencil from the school.
Dismissal
All changes in dismissal for students must be provided in writing prior to 1:30PM. Please send a note to school with your child indicating the change. If a change occurs during the school day, you must notify the office in writing. Please do not rely on e-mail changes during the day, as it is possible that the change may not be received.
