Good Afternoon!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I apologize for not getting this out on Sunday. It was brought to my attention that several parents were not receiving my emails. I wanted to wait until I had that all sorted out. I have uploaded my classes to SeeSaw- an online portfolio. Please follow the following links to sign up so you can see some of your child's work :) AM: Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/009-249-527 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds. There is no information as to when out EE lab will be yet for this unit. As soon as we know, we will send out a Sign Up Genius for you to sign up to volunteer. In this unit, we will be learning the purpose of classification and how living things are classified (plants and animals). Please reference the standard below if you have any questions. S5L1. Students will classify organisms into groups and relate how they determined the groups with how and why scientists use classification. a. Demonstrate how animals are sorted into groups (vertebrate and invertebrate) and how vertebrates are sorted into groups (fish, amphibian, reptile, bird, and mammal). b. Demonstrate how plants are sorted into groups. Tentative assessment dates: Quiz- Tuesday, September 15th Test- Friday September 18th Yellow Math: We just finished our first unit :). We will be starting Unit 5- 2D shapes towards the end of this week. Students will be learning properties of shapes and how they relate to each other in a hierarchy. We will be extending their learning to calculating the area of some of the parallelograms. We do not have tentative assessment dates yet. I will update you once I have these. Blue Math: We are still continuing Unit 1 (whole numbers). We have already learned Multiplication and Division of whole numbers. We are now learning about the order of operations and mathematical expressions. We will have our quiz over expressions and the order of operations Wednesday, September 9th. Our Unit 1 test will be Friday, September 11th. Please make sure your child is still reviewing their multiplication times tables! Without these basic facts, the large number multiplication and division are very difficult. You can find some online mad minutes here: http://www.webmathminute.com/online.asp . I hope everyone enjoys a great labor day weekend!!
