I hope everyone had a great first week back to school! I can already tell what a great class we have. I will create a new post each week with news and updates regarding each class. Please make sure to check back every Sunday for new information.
Blue Math: We have been learning about place value and multiplication. We will continue to practice our multiplication and learn about several different strategies. We will then continue into division. We will learn several different strategies to solve division problems as well. While this is a review of 4th grade, we will extend to multiplication and division of 2 digit by 4 digit problems. Assessments: Multiplication and Division quiz- August 25th Numbers and Operations quiz- September 3rd TEST- September 9th Yellow Math: We have been reviewing adding and subtracting fractions. We will extend into multiplying fractions at the start of the week with a Multiplication of Fractions quiz on August 21st (This Friday). We will then continue into dividing fractions. During this unit, we will focus on students ability to model math with fractions. Assessments: Multiplying Fractions quiz- August 21st TEST- August 28th OR September 1st Social Studies: We have been learning about the Civil War. Students should be able to identify the causes of the Civil War. They will have a quiz over the causes and the start of the Civil War for a quiz this Wednesday, August 19th. They will then learn about the major events of the Civil War including the Battle of Gettysburg, The Atlanta Campaign, and Sherman's March to the Sea. Lastly, they will identify the effects of the Civil War on the North and the South. Assessments: SS Quiz (causes and Fort Sumter) - August 19th SS TEST- August 26th
