Good evening!
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! Fall is on its way! Please make sure to read below for some weekly updates including curriculum updates. Classroom Updates: Jekyll: Jekyll intent forms and payments are due Friday, September 8th. Please make sure you turn in the permission form and first installment by that date. If you have any questions or concerns about the trip, please don't hesitate to ask! Hearts for Houston: We are raising money for classrooms in Houston. We will be graphing the money raised by each grade level in the cafeteria. Students who are able to donate will get a heart to display with their name on it in the cafeteria. I am encouraging our class to band together to help those in need. Let's live to give and help raise money for classrooms in Houston! If you are able to donate, any donations is appreciated!! Fall Conferences: To sign up for a fall conference, please click on the link HERE. Please remember, you will have access to how your child is doing in all subjects but we ask that you meet only with the homeroom teacher first. If there is immediate need to meet with your child's PM teacher, please email them directly. Curriculum Updates: Blue Math: We are working on 5th grade Unit 1. We have reviewed multiplication and will be starting Division this week. We will also be reviewing the Order of Operations and expressions. Students will be tested over Unit 1 on September 13th. (I moved this back so all of my students would be able to test on the same day. We will still be starting Unit 2 learning on September 11th). Yellow Math: We are working on 5th grade Unit 4. In this unit we will be working on Fractions. This week, we will focus on dividing fractions. We will still be reviewing adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers as well as multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. Students will be tested over Unit 4 on September 13th. (I moved this so I would not be testing on a TAG day). Green Math: We are working on 6th grade Unit 1. This is a unit with a lot of review material from 5th grade math. Students will be expected to do all 4 operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. This week, we will be learning about GCF, LCM, and the distributive property. Students will be tested over Unit 1 on September 13th. (I moved this so I would no be testing on a TAG day.) Science: We have just started our first science unit. In this unit, students will be learning about how to classify plants and animals. Students will be tested over the Classification unit on September 15th.
